Charlie Morningstar, the princess of Hell and owner of the Hazbin Hotel, founded the establishment to offer sinners a chance at redemption to enter Heaven. Vaggie (later Vaggi) serves as the manager and Charlie's lesbian girlfriend; she was once an Exorcist angel but was betrayed by Lute, stripped of her position, and mutilated after sparing a defenseless demon child, then saved by Charlie. Alastor, the powerful 'Radio Demon,' is Charlie's business partner, though he only helps for his own amusement. Husk was summoned by Alastor to serve as the hotel's bartender; he was once an overlord of Hell but lost his status due to his gambling addiction and sold his soul to Alastor. Niffty was also summoned by Alastor to serve as the hotel's maid; she is a small, hyperactive cyclops demon from the 1950s obsessed with cleanliness and men. Sir Pentious, an anthropomorphic cobra demon and skillful inventor, was recruited by Vox to spy on Alastor but later became an official patron after Charlie offered him a second chance.
